Son of South Korean Lawmaker Tests Positive for Marijuana

The son of South Korean lawmaker Lee Cheol-gyu, Mr. Lee (30s), has tested positive for marijuana in a detailed drug test.

The Seoul Seocho Police Station reported receiving the hair analysis results from the National Forensic Service, which confirmed a positive reaction to marijuana use.

Mr. Lee is accused of attempting to obtain liquid marijuana using the ‘drop-off’ method in an alleyway flower bed in Seocho-gu, Seoul, last October. The attempt was unsuccessful.

CCTV footage confirmed that Mr. Lee’s wife accompanied him to the scene, leading to her indictment on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.

Police have also requested detailed drug tests for Mr. Lee’s wife and other accomplices, and are investigating the specifics of the crime.
