Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon has indicated that he will soon announce his official position regarding a potential run for president. Speaking at a Newspaper Day 기념 event at the Korea Press Center today, Oh stated he is in the process of carefully considering a candidacy and listening to various opinions.
“I am in the stage of deeply contemplating whether to run for president, including considering many people’s opinions,” Oh said. “I will make a decision as soon as possible and let you know.” When asked about the timing, he added, “It won’t take that long. It will be finalized soon.”
Kim Byung-min, the Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs of Seoul, who was also present, echoed this sentiment, saying, “There will be an opportunity to announce it this week.”
Regarding his silence following the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, Oh explained, “I have been refraining from speaking due to a feeling of regret towards the people.”
Oh Se-hoon and other potential presidential candidates from the People Power Party are accelerating their preparations for candidacy declarations. Ahn Cheol-soo is scheduled to hold his first campaign launch event in Gwanghwamun tomorrow, and candidacy announcements from Han Dong-hoon, Hong Joon-pyo, and Lee Cheol-woo are also expected soon.
The People Power Party, which formed its presidential primary election management committee today, plans to hold its first meeting on the 9th to finalize the primary schedule.
