Famous Mukbang YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jung-won) refused to cooperate with the police investigation just 40 minutes after appearing at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul on April 16th. She had filed a complaint against Kim Se-eui, the head of the YouTube channel ‘Garo Sero Institute’ (Gaseyeon), for charges including coercion and intimidation. ๐ฒ
Tzuyang’s legal representative, Kim Tae-yeon, expressed concerns about the fairness of the investigation, stating that the police did not seem to consider Tzuyang a victim. The lawyer mentioned the possibility of applying for a recusal of the investigator. ๐
Tzuyang herself hopes for a fair investigation to prevent future victims. ๐ She stated that she had been suffering from Kim’s false accusations and harassment since July of last year, and that the situation had become unbearable when her acquaintances were also targeted. ๐
Previously, Tzuyang filed a complaint against Kim for allegedly violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes, but the police ruled it as ‘no suspicion’ due to insufficient evidence. However, Tzuyang’s side insists that they submitted sufficient materials, noting that Kim had received two provisional measures ordering him to stop stalking. ๐คจ
The police had initially decided not to forward the case to the prosecution, but the prosecution requested a supplementary investigation, leading to the reinvestigation. The case involves allegations that Kim Se-eui posted false information about Tzuyang’s private life, including tax evasion, on his YouTube channel in July of last year, demanding explanations and repeatedly posting her photos and posts. ๐
The police initially dismissed the charges of violating the Information and Communications Network Act and intimidation because Tzuyang had submitted a withdrawal of complaint. However, the prosecution’s request for supplementary investigation has brought the case back into the spotlight. ๐ง
