Trump on Trade with China: ‘The Ball is in Their Court’ 🏀

According to a recent White House briefing, former President Donald Trump addressed the ongoing trade negotiations with China, stating, “The ball is in China’s court. They need to negotiate with us, but we don’t need to negotiate with them.” 🗣️

Trump emphasized that China is no different from any other country, “except that it’s much bigger.” He believes China needs access to the American consumer market and “they want our money.” 💰

When asked about the possibility of reducing tariffs on China in exchange for a deal involving the Chinese video platform TikTok, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt reiterated Trump’s statement, saying, “We are open to a deal with China. China needs a deal with the U.S.” 🤝

Leavitt also mentioned that the U.S. has been in contact with over 70 countries regarding trade negotiations, with more than 15 proposals on the table. The administration anticipates making announcements about some of these agreements soon. ⏳
