Emergency Slide Deployed: Air Seoul Flight from Jeju to Gimpo Canceled 🚨

An Air Seoul flight, RS902, en route from Jeju to Gimpo, was canceled this morning after an emergency exit slide unexpectedly deployed. The incident occurred around 8:15 AM as the aircraft was taxiing towards the runway with 202 passengers onboard.

According to the Korea Airports Corporation, the front right emergency exit slide was triggered, halting the plane’s progress. The aircraft was subsequently towed back to the parking bay. Initial reports suggest a passenger opened the emergency exit door, leading to the slide’s deployment.

Passengers have disembarked and are awaiting alternative flight arrangements. Authorities, including the Jeju Aviation Office, National Intelligence Service, and police, are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause.

This incident is reminiscent of a similar event in May 2023, where a passenger opened an emergency exit door on an Asiana Airlines flight just before landing in Daegu. The passenger was later sentenced to three years in prison, suspended for five years, for violating aviation security laws.
