Former President Yoon Suk-yeol has moved back to his private residence in Seocho-dong, Seoul, just a week after his removal from office. He greeted supporters, expressing his commitment to continue working for the freedom and prosperity of South Korea. 🇰🇷

Warm Farewell and Future Plans

On April 11th, Yoon departed from the Hannam-dong official residence, where he resided for 886 days since moving in on November 7, 2022. Before leaving, he shook hands and embraced young supporters who had been waiting for him. He even wore a red hat with the slogan ‘Make Korea Great Again’ given to him by a supporter. 💪

Upon arriving at his Seocho-dong residence, Yoon and his wife, Kim Keon-hee, greeted more supporters. Before his departure from the official residence, Yoon had a separate meeting with his senior secretaries, expressing his regret for not completing his term and gratitude for their hard work. Approximately 200 presidential staff members came to bid him farewell. 👋

A Message to the People

In a statement released through his legal team, Yoon stated, ‘I will return as one of the citizens of the Republic of Korea and seek a new path for the country and its people.’ He added, ‘I will spare no effort, however small, for the Republic of Korea’s freedom and prosperity that the people and I have dreamed of together.’ 💭

He also expressed his gratitude to the citizens and youth who protected Hannam-dong during the winter, saying, ‘I still deeply cherish the fervent passion that melted even the cold weather.’ He reflected on his time in the official residence, meeting leaders from around the world and working to protect national interests and security. 🌏

Security and Future Residence

The Presidential Security Service has formed a security team of approximately 40 members for Yoon’s private residence. According to the ‘Presidential Security Act,’ Yoon is entitled to security services for up to 10 years. 🛡️

Since his inauguration in May 2022, Yoon commuted from his private residence to the presidential office for about six months. Due to the inconvenience caused to residents of the apartment complex, he is considering finding another residence in the Seoul metropolitan area. 🏘️
