Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon to Announce Stance on Early Presidential Run This Week

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon is expected to announce his official position on an early presidential run this week. He mentioned he’s carefully considering and listening to various opinions regarding his potential candidacy.

When asked about his silence following the Constitutional Court’s dismissal of the impeachment trial against former President Yoon Suk-yeol, Mayor Oh expressed his apologies, stating, “I feel sorry and apologetic to the public. I have been refraining from making statements due to my apologetic feelings after the Constitutional Court’s decision.”

He added that he intends to consolidate his position and share it at once when the opportunity arises. Kim Byung-min, Seoul’s Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs, who attended the celebration with Mayor Oh, mentioned there would be an opportunity to clarify matters within the week.

Earlier that day, Shin Sun-jong, the spokesperson for the Seoul Metropolitan Government, stated that they are reviewing participation in the primary elections according to the schedule of the party’s election commission.

The People Power Party inaugurated its election management committee to oversee the presidential primary elections, nominating former interim chairman Hwang Woo-yeo as the chairman.
