Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon is expected to announce his official stance on an early presidential bid this week. Speaking to reporters after attending the 69th Newspaper Day celebration, Oh stated he is carefully considering a run and listening to various opinions, promising a decision soon.
Regarding his silence after the Constitutional Court’s dismissal of the impeachment trial of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, Oh expressed his apologies to the public. He explained that he has been hesitant to speak out of remorse following the court’s decision. He intends to consolidate his thoughts and share them comprehensively in the near future.
Kim Byung-min, Seoul’s Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs, added that an announcement is likely within the week. Previously, spokesperson Shin Seon-jong mentioned that the city is reviewing participation in the primary elections in accordance with the party’s election committee schedule.
The People Power Party has launched its election committee, appointing former interim leader Hwang Woo-yeo as chairman, to oversee the presidential primary.
