Rep. Yoo Sang-beom to Lead Hong Joon-pyo’s Campaign 🚀

Yoo Sang-beom, a member of the People Power Party (국민의힘), will serve as the General Situation Director for Hong Joon-pyo’s presidential election camp. Hong Joon-pyo previously served as the mayor of Daegu.

According to multiple sources within the political sphere, Rep. Yoo has been in close contact with Hong’s team and has finalized discussions to join the campaign.

In a conversation with TV Chosun (TV조선), Yoo mentioned a past connection with Hong from his days as a prosecutor. He stated that he decided to take on the role because he sees Hong’s strengths and vision, setting aside their differing political styles.

Notably, there have been past disagreements between Yoo and Hong. In 2023, Yoo publicly criticized Hong for his displeasure with the People Power Party’s ‘amnesty’ reform plan, accusing him of constantly criticizing Kim Gi-hyeon and being difficult to work with.

Besides Yoo, Kim Dae-sik will join the Hong Joon-pyo campaign as the chief of staff, stepping down from his position as the floor spokesperson. Kim Wi-sang, from the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (한국노총), is also expected to participate as the head of the labor division. Additionally, Lee Young-soo, the chairman of ‘Saemijun (새미준, a group preparing for a new future),’ will be involved, and actor Lee Jung-gil will serve as the campaign’s head of sponsorship.
