Park Na-rae’s Cool Response to Jeon Hyun-moo and BoA’s Drunken Live Broadcast Controversy

Park Na-rae addressed the controversy surrounding the live broadcast featuring Jeon Hyun-moo and BoA, which sparked debate over allegedly rude remarks.

On the MBC entertainment show ‘I Live Alone’ aired on the 11th, Park Na-rae quipped to Jeon Hyun-moo, “Why do you look so gaunt today? The best diet is suffering heartache.” This comment alluded to the recent live broadcast controversy.

Jeon Hyun-moo responded, “I’m sorry. I apologize again,” bowing his head to Park Na-rae. Park Na-rae reassured him, “What is there to apologize for? Don’t worry about it.”

Background of the Controversy:

On the night of the 5th, Jeon Hyun-moo co-hosted a live SNS broadcast with singer BoA. During the broadcast, both appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. When a comment inquired about a rumored romantic relationship between Jeon Hyun-moo and Park Na-rae, BoA responded, “I don’t think they’ll date. It’s not possible.” When Jeon Hyun-moo asked, “Is Park Na-rae a waste?” BoA replied, “No, oppa (오빠 – older brother or male friend) is a waste.” The term ‘oppa’ is a Korean term used by females to refer to older male friends or brothers.

This sparked online criticism, with many labeling the remarks as “rude.” Consequently, on the 7th, BoA posted an apology on the fan community platform Weverse, stating, “I apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable due to my careless words, remarks, and immature behavior.”

She added, “I apologized to Park Na-rae for mentioning her in her absence and making rude remarks, and I am grateful that she generously understood.”

Jeon Hyun-moo also posted a statement on his SNS on the 9th, saying, “My official apology is late. I sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable because of this incident. I will be more considerate and cherish my close friends more.”

He added, “I conveyed my apology to (Park Na-rae) immediately after the broadcast. I want to express my apologies and gratitude to Na-rae once again for understanding the unpleasant situation generously.”
