Coca-Cola Foundation Donates $350,000 to South Korea for Wildfire Relief Efforts

The Coca-Cola Foundation has donated approximately ₩500 million (US$350,000) to the Korean Red Cross to support emergency humanitarian aid for areas affected by recent wildfires. This contribution aims to aid swift relief activities and help displaced residents return to their daily lives.

According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, the large-scale wildfires that persisted for ten days, primarily affecting the Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk regions starting from last month, resulted in 75 casualties and impacted a forest area equivalent to 80% of Seoul’s size.

The Coca-Cola Foundation has been actively involved in various support projects in South Korea since 2017, including:

• Supporting reservoir dredging projects in rural areas through the World Wide Fund for Nature Korea (WWF-Korea).
• Supporting economic independence programs for multicultural youths through the Korea Multicultural Youth Association.
• Supporting coastal forest creation projects for coastal disaster prevention through the Korea Green Foundation.
• Sponsoring Korea Social Investment, an impact investment firm, to support innovative startups focused on developing sustainable packaging.

This donation underscores the Coca-Cola Foundation’s commitment to supporting communities in times of need and promoting sustainability and social responsibility.
