๐Ÿšจ Breaking: Partial Collapse at ShinAnsan Line Construction Site in Gwangmyeong ๐Ÿšง

A partial collapse occurred at the ShinAnsan Line construction site near Yangji Intersection in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The incident took place around 3:13 PM KST today, according to the Gyeonggi Gwangmyeong Police Station and Yonhap News.

What Happened: The collapse occurred at the site of the ShinAnsan Line double-track railway’s Section 5-2 tunnel construction. Initially, five workers conducting safety assessments on the road above were unreachable. While three were quickly confirmed safe, one remains trapped underground, and a excavator operator is still missing.

Damage: The collapse of the underground space led to the collapse of the ground road and parts of nearby commercial facilities. Fortunately, no additional casualties have been reported so far.

Prior Warning: Earlier, around 0:30 AM KST, a report was filed about cracks in several central pillars (struts) inside the underground tunnel, which was being constructed using a ‘two-arch’ structure. As a result, traffic and pedestrian access were completely blocked on a 1 km section of the six-lane Ori-ro road from Gwangmyeong Yangji Intersection to Anyang Hohyunsamgeori.

Ongoing Response: Emergency services are currently on-site, working to locate the missing worker and ensure the stability of the surrounding area.

Stay tuned for updates.
