Former President Yoon Suk-yeol is set to leave the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and return to his private residence in Seocho-dong on the 11th. An official from Yoon’s side stated, “Former President Yoon will leave the official residence at 5 PM on the 11th and move to his private residence.”
Senior presidential aides are also expected to visit the official residence to see off former President Yoon.
In preparation for former President Yoon’s return to his private residence, the Presidential Security Service has reportedly formed a security team of about 40 people. According to the ‘Act on the Security of the President and Others,’ former President Yoon can receive security services from the Presidential Security Service for up to 10 years.
It is observed that there will be no significant difficulties in providing security since the Seocho-dong private residence is where former President Yoon resided for about six months after his inauguration in May 2022.
However, there are concerns that neighboring residents may experience inconvenience as the private residence is a mixed-use building rather than a detached house. The large number of pets raised by former President Yoon and his wife is also a variable. The couple plans to move all 11 of their dogs and cats, which they kept at the official residence, to their private residence. After moving to the Seocho-dong private residence, they are also considering finding another house in the Seoul metropolitan area.
Key points:
- Former President Yoon Suk-yeol is moving from the presidential residence to his private home.
- The Presidential Security Service is providing a security team.
- Concerns exist about potential inconvenience to neighbors due to the nature of the residence and the number of pets.
